Meg

Teacher and founder, Meg Sutton, has been teaching yoga for over twenty years.  She discovered yoga when she was studying dance at Cornish College of the Arts in the early 2000's.  Yoga has been a deeply rewarding journey, and she is very grateful for the support she has received from her past and present teachers.  As a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CIYT),  Meg has dedicated many hours to yoga study and practice and continues to explore how to best incorporate yoga into improving our daily lives.  Meg is also a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant and has plenty of experience adapting poses for those who have injuries or other health needs.  She loves helping others feel joyful and connected in their own bodies, AND she loves the physical beauty and challenge of yoga.  Yoga is an inward journey that we map with our bodies - it starts at the periphery and flows from outside in.

Maria

My yoga journey, which began in the mid-nineties on a whim, became a lifelong passion that is a steady companion and source of inspiration as I move through all of life’s ups and downs. This wonderful practice supports my body and mind as I do the many things I love; being a mother, teaching elementary school, traveling and most recently, discovering the beautiful trails of the PNW and Cascade Mountains. My Classical Hatha Yoga Teacher Training allows me to create and share vinyasas that support building strength and flexibility while maintaining a strong and conscious connection to the heart and breath. This method also lends itself wonderfully as a foundation to many different styles of yoga. I am very happy to be part of the fantastic Whatcom Lotus Yoga team!

Diane

Diane's introduction to Iyengar Yoga began in 1988.  When her children were young and as a busy, working mom, she found solace in Iyengar yoga - a source of restoration, invigoration, comfort, strength, and balance.  Throughout her life, yoga has been a means to reinvent herself.  Diane's teacher training journey began when she was living in Walnut Creek, CA. After completing the course for the 200-hour RYT (registered yoga teacher) in 2020, she and her husband returned to their home in Ferndale WA. As the pandemic restrictions were lifted, she began practicing and teaching with Meg at Whatcom Lotus Yoga. Most recently, she completed a ‘Yoga For Arthritis’ teacher training, and is
excited to share this compassionate approach to yoga with our
yoga community.

Mika

Mika joined our team at Lotus Yoga in June 2023 and is very excited and grateful to be here!  She has experience teaching a variety of yoga styles including Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, Aerial Yoga, and Yoga-Pilates fusion classes.  Mika currently teaches on Monday nights, select Saturday mornings, and is studying teaching philosophy and practicum with Meg.  She is new to Iyengar Yoga but eager to learn and study the beloved style of yoga that has shaped many of the students at Lotus Yoga.  Her classes are wonderfully inventive and FUN. Her Hatha Flow and Stretch Class is a beginning to intermediate level flow class that balances strength building sequences with creative stretches and classic yoga poses.  Mika's passion for vibrant living, health and wellness shines in her teaching style.
